Essential fatty acids (EFAs) used by the body for multiple health concerns
Omega-3 fatty acids – eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexanoic acid (DHA) – are extracted from a variety of cold-water fatty fish. They are essential fatty acids (EFAs) used by the body for multiple health concerns. EFAs are fatty acids essential for our bodies to function but are not efficiently made in the body so must be obtained from food or supplements. Although EPA and DHA can be made in small amounts in the body from the EFA alpha-linolenic acid (from plant oils like flaxseed), this conversion happens only inefficiently.
