I am a board-certified family medicine physician practicing broad-scope family medicine on the outskirts of Austin, TX. I treat patients of all ages, and with all conditions. I consider myself a diagnostician and a specialist of each individual patient, rather than a specialist of any particular field of medicine or disease. My patients can expect me to respect their perspectives and value their individual life goals, which are foundational in guiding our interactions, and my recommendations. I intend to serve as a health consultant, and I aspire to know and care for my patients and their families in a life-long journey. If I were pressed to choose a specific interest in medicine other than in the individual patient, it would be longevity. Longevity could be conceptualized as the mutually inclusive product of a longer lifespan and improved quality of life, a multidimensional aggregate of cognitive, emotional, spiritual, and physical well-being. Such an objective can be approached in very different ways. For some, this involves a more hands-off approach with annual or biannual visits, and attention focused mainly on promotion of a peaceful, naturalistic lifestyle; If illness is encountered, then we will treat it. Yet, for others, targeting longevity might include an in-depth genetic analysis and measurements of their body's function, aberrations, and potential deficiencies, in effort to actively promote longevity with the tools and knowledge available to us. Regardless of approach, the application of longevity permeates my practice.
